In "Stitches"

One of my favorite sewing magazines is Australian Stitches. They have changed their title several times over the years, but have continued to produce a magazine that is like having a few friends who sew at your finger tips. We don't always have the same taste in fashion (who does really), but it's encouraging to see how patterns are interpreted by someone else. The magazine has a wonderful fashion artist in Eddie Frantz and many contributors who are very talented. I love Lynn and Cate and can't wait for each issue to come out. The only downside for me is that coming from Australia by the time I see an issue in my local Joann's store there are already three newer issues out. I use my 40% coupons to save on the $10 per issue price in the store.

Last year I emailed Lynn trying to get them to consider archiving their magazines like "Threads" does. She was gracious enough to email me back with explanations and gratitude. I have saved this email encouraged that they truly put their hearts in their publication.

Imagine my surprise, months later, when I purchased a couple of issues that came out during our vacation, and opened to read letters to the editor (my favorite section to read first in all the sewing mags I receive) and there it was, my letter to Lynn. I stood in my Joann's giggling to myself, "in Stitches!"Posted by Picasa

(Time) Travel

No science fiction here. No falling off the face of the earth. My reasons for not posting for 5 months are the same reasons I should have been posting. I have only the iPad to blame. I fell in love with it and have spent all my free time getting to know it. It wasn't until we went to Hawaii (with iPads keeping us entertained with movies, games and books/magazines etc.on our long flights, substituting for gps units to explore the island, looking up fun adventures through our cell phone hot spots, finding restraunts, and my favorite: instant uploads of the thousands of digital photos we took so we could enjoy them before the moment was over!)then I realized after we got home, all the time I've missed with my other passions. I have promised myself no more excuses containing the words (Time) Travel!
