Pincushions and Tape Measures

Passion Crafting

I bought this book in June for my birthday, and was hooked!  No pun intended.   Mandalas have so many uses.  Here are just a few I made:

Touché Crochet

Oui, oui Paris!  Ive been addicted to making pincushions lately. Most with a touch of pink and some with a "french twist".

Thread Rack

Threads
Thread Rack
I adore Pintrest.  I was inspired by some ideas of Thread Storage I saw and decided to create my own version of a Thread Rack.   First I shopped one of my favorite craft stores, Hobby Lobby, and purchased a white 16 x 20 picture frame with beautiful scroll detail.   Next I went to Home Depot where I had them cut 8' long 1 x 2's into the sizes I needed. I used a higher grade of wood to reduce warping and knots.
  • 2 Qty. 20" pieces
  • 2 Qty. 14"  pieces
  • 4 Qty. 18" pieces
I layed out the pieces out to create a 16 x 20 inch rectangle and nailed these together by hand, utilizing a square to ensure my corners were 90 degree angles.  Next, I centered the remaining 4-18" pieces into the rectangle and nailed those into place ensuring they were level as I went.  Lastly, I used some small nails on the outside of the four shelves to create a hanging space for matching bobbin thread.  I love how this came out and can't wait for more sewing room projects!

Run For The Border

A Little Ironing Wouldn't  Hurt

I love how this summer top turned out.  The only problem I had was that both my irons died this week during the making of it.  What are the chances?  One iron just stopped working and the other was my fault.   I barely finished pressing this shirt when I accidentally knocked the iron face down on a wool carpet and the sole plate was instantly covered with burnt black wool.  The carpet doesn't show any wear, but the iron was unable to come clean..  So, now I will be on the hunt for not one, but two irons this week.
